Report of the meeting of Suffolk Concert Band held on
Thursday 1st May 2008 at 4 Ogden Grove, Kesgrave
Those present were: Angela Hope, Toby Hope, Mark Cheadle, and Trevor Daldry
16. Apologies for absence
These were received from; Ray Wilson, Sarah Scott, Roger Jones, Gordon Scopes and Marion Singleton.
17. Adoption of minutes of meeting held on Thursday 10th April 2008
The committee recommends that the minutes are adopted with the following addition:
(8iii) The committee agreed that we should deposit £1000 in the Treasury Tracker account.
18. Matters arising from meeting held on Thursday 10th April 2008
There were no matters arising.
19. Chairman
Nothing to report.
20. Musical Director
John Whelton has passed on a list of music for the two concerts at Barham Hall and Christchurch Park.
21. Secretary
i) The Spa Pavilion is booked for Sunday 18th October 2009.
ii) The concert on the Market Hill, Woodbridge will now be on Sunday 7th September and the committee recommends that this concert starts at 2.30pm. This is our concert so we will not be receiving a fee and publicity is our responsibility.
ACTION: Toby to produce a poster for this concert.
iii) The RAFA do not want to put on another concert at the Regal Theatre in 2009.
ACTION: Angela to investigate booking the Regal Theatre for a concert during summer 2009.
iv) It is still ok for band members to park in St. Clements car park on a Wednesday evening despite the penalty notices. St.Clements has confirmed that band members will not be clamped between 5 and 10pm on a Wednesday evening.
v) Angela has received a letter from Pat Wood, thanking the band for making her an honorary member.
vi) Angela passed on her thanks to the band for the card and wedding present.

ii) Ray has renewed our insurance policy with BBIS - £651.89, an increase of £26 over last year.
iii) Angela reported that Andrew Farthing recalls that the banners were manufactured in India but suggested we contact Hanleys.
ACTION: Trevor to ask Don Young if he could investigate banners from his uniform contacts.
23. Membership Secretary
i) The coach has been booked for the concert in London at a cost of approx. £400. Trevor would like the kit to go on the coach.
ii) Sarah Driver, Clare Rodgers and Trevor Brown have returned their membership forms.
24. Librarian
Sarah has expressed her concern once again regarding the state of the music library.
25. Concert Manager
Nothing to report.
26. St. Peter’s Church
Angela has offered to attend the open evening on 16th May. The committee recommend that we have one rehearsal on 21st May and if successful continue with a trial period.
ACTION: Angela to contact Bernard Westren at St. Peter’s Church regarding this.
27. Publicity
The committee recommend that we ask Roger to take a more active role in publicity as he has previously expressed an interest in doing this.
28. Forthcoming Events
· Saturday 12th July 2008 – Last Night of the Proms at Barham Hall
ACTION: Angela to confirm format of concert with Roger Colthorpe
ACTION: Angela to ask if it is possible to rehearse at Barham and leave kit at the hall between the two concerts there.
· Saturday 18th October – All Hallows Church, London
The committee agreed that this is a high profile concert and this needs to be reflected in the music that we play and how we play it.
· Saturday 13th December 2008 – Carol Service, Landguard Fort
Trevor suggested that we go for a meal after the carol service.

28.2 Trip 2008
Trevor will be visiting Ireland in August and will report back at the September meeting.
