approached the member who requested a reduction/remission of subs with the
committee’s proposal from the last meeting. So far, no money has been
forthcoming.

5.
Musical Director
i)
Roger was concerned about the discontent among members when he
mentioned that he would like us to be at Needham Market by 6.30pm on Saturday.
The committee felt an hour before a concert was acceptable. He also feels that
members are “cherry-picking” the engagements that they attend which is
something we may need to address. It needs to be reiterated to the band the
every engagement is equal in importance.
ii)
Roger will not be available for the Spa concert or the rehearsal the
week after.
iii)
There is the possibility of a concert in October 2008 in a city church
in London, with the guild of musicians and singers. Simon suggested that this
could be combined with seeing a show in the evening.
6.
Secretary
Angela was contacted by a
producer at Channel 4 asking for permission from the copyright holder, Michael
Simmonds, to use the recording of Speed The Plough from the Trafalgar 200 CD in
a documentary they are making with Martin Bell. This documentary is about the
military covenant and the way we treat our soldiers and will be aired on
Channel 4 on 30th March at 7.30pm.
7.
Treasurer
Nothing to report.
8.
Membership Secretary
i) Deborah Edwards has been given a lead role in Carmen with Suffolk Opera and will not be able to make rehearsals until September. She will be available for Needham on Saturday.
ii)
Mike Thomas is having a major operation and will not be available for
some time.
iii)
Tony Warren came along to one rehearsal and the AGM but not sure
if/when he is coming back.
iv)
The committee agreed that John Whelton is welcome to continue coming
along to rehearsals.
v)
Andrew Toomey has decided to leave the band as he is finding the music
too difficult.
vi)
Many members have not yet returned their engagement reply slips.
9.
Librarian
i) Roger has requested some new music for Sarah to purchase.
ii) Simon has requested a copy of the 2nd Trombone pad.
iii) Simon will liaise with Sarah for the music required for Shotley Church.
10.
Concert Manager
i) Trevor is in the process of getting a tow bar fitted on his car.
ii) Don Young has offered to investigate the possibility of getting some no longer required mess jackets due the amalgamation of two army regiments.
11.
Publicity
Colin Pettingale has suggested that the band play at the London Marathon to see Angela over the finish line. The committee agreed that the logistics of doing this would make it impossible. Angela reported that publicity for the Holy Trinity concerts is in hand.
12.
Recording
Roger is liasing with Michael Simmonds regarding this.

on Cornet. There are only two flutes. Angela to arrange a microphone for Roger.
·
Friday 4th May – Mistley Church
We are short of Clarinets.
Gordon to ask Natasha Free or Jill Blofield to play.

We need to get this engagement confirmed as soon as possible and find out what is required of us as it has been bought to our attention that SODs have also been invited.
·
Sunday 21st October
We need to decide on a conductor for this concert and the rehearsal after as Roger is away. John and Bernard are the obvious choices but Gary Glover was also suggested.
14.
Any Other Business
i) We need a new wardrobe person. This position should be offered to the band once again.
ii)
Colin Pettingale has asked if the band can donate a raffle prize to the
Wolsey Theatre club as they are raising money for the refurbishment of the
Wolsey Theatre. The committee recommend that we donate two bottles of wine
(donated by Trevor Daldry) and two tickets for our concert at the Spa Pavilion
in October.
